II. About S.O.N.
School of Nirvana is a privatehomeschool academy and tutoring service ensuring students ages, 2 years old and above, with optimal learning before entering into private or the public schooling system. At S.O.N. we allow the children to explore their highest cognitive potentials by implementing First Curriculum. First Curriculum was developed by our founder, Brionna Long, whom fell in love with Montessori, decided to take First Curriculum a step farther by creating a strategic independent work time for the students throughout the week, to promote a variety for each students’ learning capabilities.
III. First Curriculum
First Curriculum is an educational program that allows children to learn at their best potential by implementing different varieties of work for all learners in the classroom. There are four types of learners in the classroom which are kinesthetic, visual, auditory, or literary. Lastly First Curriculum. emphasizes allowing the child to reflect on the information learned by meditation.
We use First Curriculum in S.O.N by having certain days devoted to our core subjects, Language, Mathematics, Cultural Sciences, Life Skills, and Cognitive Thinking. Each day there are works set up around the classroom for the core subject of the day, for each type of learner. Our students have a choice of which work is best suited for them at independent work time and utilize it during that timeframe. It allows the students to feel confident in themselves and the decisions that they choose to make. If they need help or assistance, I, myself or my assistant, will help our student complete it to the BEST of their abilities. Allowing our students to have the space to choose the type of independent work they would like to do gives them exposure to all four groups of learning, which helps them build confidence on their learning weaknesses.
